Paris Saint-Germain vs Nice: Ligue 1 Preview

Paris Saint-Germain vs Nice Preview

This match is of little significance to PSG and in truth, it is simply a way to keep key players warm before next Tuesday’s trip to the Emirates.

Although, Enrique’s men are unbeaten in Ligue 1 this season and that is a label they would like to maintain in order to achieve ‘Invincible’ status in France.

It is a quick turnaround for PSG following Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw in Nantes, their first dropped points since January following 10 consecutive top-flight wins.

Nice brought an end to a worrying run of five matches without a victory with last Sunday’s 2-1 home win over Angers.

They are up to fifth in the table but are level on points with Lyon and Strasbourg beneath them, which means a positive result at the Parc des Princes is of paramount importance.

But getting the better of PSG at their home is virtually an impossible task these days.

Enrique’s talented side have won 13 of 15 home matches in Ligue 1 thus far, scoring 41 goals and conceding only 12.

Nice’s away record is only the seventh-best in the division, although they did hold PSG to a 1-1 draw in October’s reverse fixture.

But the Parisians have improved since then and even with the likelihood of heavy squad rotation, Friday’s hosts remain a formidable opponent.

Expect Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola and Lucas Hernandez to start, while the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Marquinhos – who all started against Nantes – could be demoted to the bench.

Achraf Hakimi should also return to the squad after being handed a full rest on Tuesday.

PSG are, of course, overwhelming favourites to claim the win at odds of 1.55. A Nice victory is priced at 5.25, while the draw is 4.40.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Nice Betting Tips

Desire Doue to score anytime @ 2.50

Doue has been a revelation at PSG this season and has netted four goals in his last four Ligue 1 appearances. If he starts as expected, we are tipping the teenager to put Nice’s defence to the sword.

Paris Saint-Germain to score over 2.5 goals @ 2.60

PSG’s array of attackers are playing for places in next Tuesday’s XI against Arsenal, so there is no chance of them taking their foot off the gas, whether as a starter or as a sub. The French champions average 2.73 goals per home match, a quite formidable record.

Paris Saint-Germain to win the first half @ 2.00

As previously mentioned, the PSG players know the importance of maintaining high performance levels as preparation for the Champions League. So expect them to come flying out the traps to achieve something which they have in the last two Ligue 1 matches – win the first half!
