Midtjylland vs Genk: Match Preview

FC Midtjylland has one goal in mind: defending their spot at the top of the table.

Winners of their first four matches in the tournament against Sturm Graz (2-0), Nottingham Forest (2-3), Maccabi Tel Aviv (0-3), and Celtic (3-1), the Danish side was only defeated by Roma in the last round (2-1).

Led by an in-form Franculino Dju, Midtjylland is also in contention for the domestic title, currently sitting 2nd and four points behind the leaders.

However, the Danes will have to manage without their midfielder Castillo (3 goals and 4 assists in the league), who is sidelined through injury.

On the other side, Genk arrives with high ambitions.

After an initial win against Rangers (0-1), the Jupiler Pro League side suffered two setbacks with a defeat against Ferencvaros (0-1) and a draw with Betis (0-0). They then returned to winning ways by defeating Braga (3-4) and FC Basel (2-1).

In the league, Thorsten Fink’s men have not won in the last four matchdays and were beaten last weekend by Antwerp (3-0).

Midtjylland vs Genk: Our Predictions

FC Midtjylland to win @ 1.85
It is hard to bet against FC Midtjylland in this matchup. The Danes have been dominant since the start of the competition and boast an impressive 20-match unbeaten streak at home across all competitions. With Midtjylland performing particularly well in their stadium and facing a Genk side that struggles for consistency away from home, a home victory at 1.85 seems like a very solid bet.

Hyeon-gyu Oh to score at any time for Genk @ 3.00
Although Genk sometimes struggles to control their matches, one thing is certain: Hyeon-gyu Oh is in exceptional form this season. The South Korean forward has already scored 3 goals in this Europa League campaign, complementing his excellent league performance with 16 goals and 3 assists in 17 matches, plus 3 goals and 1 assist in the Europa League.
