Jupiler Pro League 2024-25 Championship Round Analysis

In truth, it is hard to look past Genk given their form in the regular season.

The leaders won 21 matches and suffered only four defeats, scoring 55 goals along the way.

However, a four-point lead is rather precarious and reigning champions Club Brugge should really fancy their chances of catching Genk.

Club Brugge were the highest scorers in the regular season with 65 goals and with no Champions League distractions, Nicky Hayen’s side can spring a surprise.

Anderlecht’s eight-point buffer to top spot is perhaps too great given their patchy form, but USG are a team to watch out for.

Just six points behind Genk, USG suffered only five defeats in the regular season and boasted the meanest defence with 25 goals conceded in 30 matches – a formidable record.

But we cannot make a case for either Antwerp or Gent, given they trail the leaders by a whopping 11 points.

Anderlecht are the only team the pair can realistically hope of catching – and even that might be a tall order!
