Formula 1: Spanish Grand Prix 2025 Preview

The Formula 1 roster heads to Spain and Barcelona this weekend for yet another thrilling race.

McLaren driver Oscar Piastri currently leads the way in the standings, with team-mate Lando Norris close behind following his fantastic victory in Monaco.

But Red Bull superstar and reigning champion Max Verstappen will still have dreams of catching the pair – and he won this race last season.

Spanish Grand Prix Preview

Norris’ aforementioned victory in Monaco means he has closed the gap to Piastri to just three points ahead of this exciting race.

McLaren look well on course to claim the World Championship, though it remains wise to never rule out Verstappen and Red Bull.

Piastri and Norris as a duo have won six of the eight races so far this season, with Verstappen claiming the other two.

Furthermore, Piastri and Norris have each been on the podium seven times, which is an ominous statistic for the chasing pack.

But when it comes to the Spanish Grand Prix, there is one man who can never be ruled out regardless of the current standings – and that is Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton.

The British racing legend has not had the best of starts since making the move from Mercedes, however, he has won this event six times, a record he shares with Michael Schumacher.

Hamilton is yet to finish on the podium in 2025, but the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is clearly a track he likes.

His Ferrari colleague Charles Leclerc, who has finished on the podium twice this season, is yet to win the Spanish Grand Prix and how he would love to this year in order to give his outside chances of claiming the World Championship a major boost.

In terms of Spanish drivers, Williams’ Carlos Sainz is the only real hope, though he has not won a race since the 2024 Mexican Grand Prix.

What a weekend of action we have in store!

Spanish Grand Prix Betting Tips

Podium Finish – Lewis Hamilton @ 4.50

Like we said before, Ferrari and Hamilton’s season has been nothing to write home about thus far. But this is a race the Brit thrives in and the odds on him to finish on the podium are almost too good to turn down!

Top Six Finish – Carlos Sainz @ 4.50

Who does not love a homecoming in sport? Sainz is way down in 12th in the overall standings, but this is the race he will be most motivated for. A top six finish is a difficult thing to achieve with the in-form racers ahead of him, however, we are prepared to take a risk on the Spaniard this weekend!
