Qatar Grand Prix 2025: Race Preview
The post-race disqualifications of McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri in Las Vegas have put Max Verstappen right back in the title fight with just two rounds remaining, especially after the Red Bull driver’s impressive victory on the streets of Sin City.
Norris still holds a comfortable 24-point lead over his two rivals, and will have his first chance to secure a maiden world title this Sunday in Qatar.
However, after his disqualification in Las Vegas, the McLaren driver knows he cannot afford another mistake if he wants to stay ahead of Verstappen. The Dutchman is now just one race win away from catching the Brit in the standings.
Of course, Piastri remains very much in the mix. Despite another difficult outing in Vegas, the Australian could still play a major role if he manages to rediscover the form he showed earlier in the season.

Race Winner: Max Verstappen @ 2.25
After his victory in Las Vegas and the disqualification of both McLarens, Verstappen heads to Qatar with strong momentum. He knows this is his last real opportunity to turn the championship around, and the fast, overtaking-friendly Lusail circuit plays directly to his strengths.
Oscar Piastri to Finish on the Podium @ 2.10
Piastri remains a key contender: he is level with Verstappen and just 24 points behind Norris. If McLaren can sort out their technical issues, his pace is more than competitive. A podium finish in Qatar would put him in a strong position heading into the final race. Given his potential and the stakes, aiming for a top-three finish is a realistic bet.
