After another immensely thrilling Premier League weekend, attention switches to the Carabao Cup Round of 16, with perhaps the most eye-catching tie being Tottenham vs Manchester City.
Although often not a competition of priority for the so-called big clubs, once you have a chance to reach the quarter-finals of any competition, it is difficult to not be enticed by the increased chance of winning a trophy.

Tottenham vs Manchester City Preview
Tottenham take on City in what will surely be an interesting match due to the contrast in priorities, and form between the two teams. Spurs come into the fixture still hurting from a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace (who had been without a win before last weekend), while City continued their club-record streak without losing in the Premier League (now at 32 games) by beating Southampton 1-0 at the Etihad.
Some potential good news for Tottenham might be the hint that Pep Guradiola gave about his team selection ahead of the match, suggesting that he may have to play more youngsters than usual. The Spanish head coach has claimed to have only 15 first-team players considered fit, as well as openly prioritising Premier League and Champions League fixtures over this Carabao Cup tie. This is understandable, especially considering that City won the tournament four times in a row between 2018 and 2021.
Spurs, on the other hand, have not won a trophy since 2008, with that success coming in this competition. So, a Round of 16 match against an understrength, potentially less-motivated City side should present a unique chance to not only advance to the next stage, but also give a shot in the arm of their season that has underwhelmed so far.
It feels strange to say that when there have been some patches of form that have been very encouraging. There was a four-game winning streak in all competitions from mid-September to the start of October, which included a comprehensive 3-0 win against the red side of Manchester at Old Trafford. But that seems to have been forgotten, mostly due to the manner of the defeats that have followed, notably the collapse versus Brighton when they led 2-0 at half-time but lost the game 3-2.
The domestic cup competitions offer Spurs their best chance of winning silverware, so it would be a surprise to not see a close to full-strength team come Wednesday evening.

Tottenham vs Manchester City Betting Tips
1st Goal – Tottenham @ 2.10
City have been a bit prone to conceding first early, then responding to the challenge accordingly, so a fast Spurs start at home could be a good shout.
Half with Most Goals – 1st Half @ 2.70
In line with our first tip, a fast start from Tottenham we think will get an appropriate response from City, with a flurry of goalscoring action occurring in the first half of play.
Race to 3 Corners – Manchester City @ 1.64
When City have teams camped around the edge of their own box, the relentless pressure is likely to give way to corners as the defensive team seek a breather. So, we think the Citizens will win the race to three corners in the match.
