Jupiler Pro League Matchday 26 – Betting Tips

It was a mixed week for Belgian clubs in the play-off rounds of European competitions.

After Club Brugge’s late first-leg victory over Atalanta in the Champions League, Anderlecht and Union Saint-Gilloise each slipped to damaging defeats in the Europa League.

Gent also suffered a demoralising 3-0 failure at home against Real Betis in the first leg of their Europa Conference League play-off tie.

The losing trio will be eager to bounce back in domestic action this weekend and below, you will find our picks for your latest Jupiler Pro League football bet.

Genk to beat Standard Liege @ 1.83

The Matchday 26 action kicks off this evening as league leaders Genk travel to Liege. On a run of five consecutive top-flight wins, Genk are now six points clear of Club Brugge in the race to finish 1st. Standard are without a win in two matches and are just outside the Championship Play-Off places, so motivation levels in the camp should be at an all-time high. However, motivation can only count for so much against Belgium’s most in-form side – and we think Genk will stroll to yet another victory.

Club Brugge to beat STVV @ 1.66

Club Brugge’s 2-1 victory over Atalanta, secured by a controversial last-minute penalty from Gustaf Nilsson, was yet more evidence of the quality possessed by the defending champions. And although Nicky Hayen may be tempted to rest a few key players ahead of next Tuesday’s second leg in Bergamo, his side should still have far too much firepower when they travel to struggling STVV. They are now 14th in the table after suffering three defeats in four matches. A Relegation Play-Off scrap sadly beckons for the hosts.

Charleroi to beat Anderlecht @ 2.60

One of the harder games of Matchday 26 to call. Anderlecht were on the receiving end of a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Fenerbahce in the Europa League, a crash back down to reality after reaching the Croky Cup final. Their place in the Championship Play-Offs is virtually secured but manager David Hubert will want his side to deliver some positive results in the final weeks of the regular season. Hosts Charleroi are unbeaten in four, albeit with three draws, and are always a tricky side to face. And we are backing them to add to Anderlecht’s European woes.

Union Saint-Gilloise to beat Mechelen @ 1.57

USG’s 2-0 home loss to Ajax in the Europa League was a bit of a shock, although the Amsterdam club are flying at the top of the Eredivisie. But USG are on a superb run themselves, winning the last five in the Pro League and keeping pace with 2nd-placed Club Brugge. And despite the loss to Ajax, we expect USG to record yet another domestic triumph against a Mechelen side who are now in the Relegation Play-Offs after losing four of the last five.
