Israel vs Belgium: Nations League Preview

Belgium and Israel will play for little more than pride as they languish in the bottom two places of UEFA Nations League Group A2.

Despite being handed a tough group that also includes France and Italy, Belgium will be disappointed that they couldn’t be more competitive, especially considering that the aforementioned teams haven’t looked as strong as usual.

So, both teams will be using this final match to rebuild confidence and use a positive result as a springboard into next year.

Israel vs Belgium Preview

Before this group kicked off, Israel clearly looked like the weakest team in this and that has proved to be the case, having picked up just one point entering Matchday 6.

That solitary point came in the 0-0 draw against France on Matchday 5, where they somehow managed to hold firm despite only having 29% possession and three shots to France’s 24. That being said, it was the first time Israel had failed to score this campaign, so evidence does show that they do carry a threat going forward, even if they don’t have the points to show for it.

Belgium fans will be much more discouraged by their team’s performances, with the hangover from an underwhelming Euro 2024 still in their system. With just one win to show for the first five group games, head coach Domenico Tedesco will be under some pressure to improve the state of the national team.

They gave a decent account of themselves in their narrow 1-0 defeat to Italy, but an 11th-minute Sandro Tonali goal was enough to see the Azzurri go three points ahead of France at the group’s summit. Tedesco attempted to directly match up with the Italians by switching to a back three for this game, but it didn’t have enough of an impact to disrupt their opponent’s groove.

Now, Belgium will have this final game to potentially tinker with some new ideas that will hopefully refine the dynamic of the team moving into 2025. Qualifying for the next major tournament – the 2026 World Cup – will be a priority.

Israel vs Belgium Betting Tips

Both Teams to Score – Yes @ 1.78

Both teams will enter the pitch with little pressure, and with that comes an expectation to express themselves openly. So, both teams to get on the scoresheet makes sense to us.

Goals in Both Halves – Yes  @ 1.49

…And since both teams are going to score, why not spread those goals across both halves?

Anytime Goalscorer – Romelu Lukaku @ 1.86

Should he start, he will be the biggest goal threat on the pitch, and will no doubt be looking to add to his 85 goals for Belgium.
