Fluminense vs Chelsea: Match Preview

This is the third time Chelsea have faced a Brazilian team in this competition, after Palmeiras and Flamengo. Despite a mixed start to the tournament, the English side have gradually grown in strength and lived up to their status in the knockout stages, taking advantage of a draw that was well within their reach.

As the only non-European team in the last four, Fluminense are living a dream. No one expected the Brazilians to reach this stage of the competition, but Rene’s teammates have impressed and it is no longer a surprise to see them in the semi-finals. They held Borussia Dortmund to a 0-0 draw in the group stage before eliminating last season’s Champions League finalists Inter Milan 2-0 in the round of 16.

This match will also be a reunion, as Thiago Silva, now playing for his beloved club, will face Chelsea for the first time since his departure.

Fluminense vs Chelsea Betting Tips

Fluminense vs Chelsea: Draw @ 3.70

Despite their underdog status, Fluminense should not be underestimated. The Brazilian club has shown exceptional character by eliminating teams considered ‘stronger’ throughout the competition, such as Inter Milan and Al-Hilal. In addition, Enzo Maresca’s team has already lost to a Brazilian side (Flamengo on matchday 2, 3-1). The decision could therefore be made in extra time.

Over 2.5 goals @ 2.05

This is a clash between two relatively attacking teams. In their last three Club World Cup matches, the Rio de Janeiro club has scored four goals. But although Fluminense can count on an excellent defence, with three clean sheets in five matches, they are facing a team that has scored in every game since the start of the tournament, averaging three goals per match.

Anytime Goalscorer – Cole Palmer @ 2.60

Cole Palmer, who has admitted to struggling both on and off the pitch, has finally broken his duck in this Club World Cup. The Chelsea attacking midfielder scored his first goal against Palmeiras. He will be looking to repeat that performance against Fluminense and help his teammates reach the final of the tournament.
