Darts: PDC World Matchplay 2025 – Preview & Odds

The 2025 PDC World Matchplay takes place from July 19 to 27 in Blackpool, England.

Defending champion Luke Humphries comes into the event full of confidence after winning the Premier League Darts title at the end of May. He’ll be the man to beat once again this year.

But his fellow countryman Luke Littler, crowned world champion earlier this year, now has his sights set on a first-ever triumph in this legendary tournament.

Here’s everything you need to know about the thrilling 2025 edition of the World Matchplay, along with the latest darts odds. Plus, boost your winnings by up to 50% with our Combo+ offer, valid on accumulator bets.

Key facts for this year

Reigning champion Luke Humphries will face stiff competition from a number of former winners, including James Wade, Gary Anderson, Nathan Aspinall, Rob Cross, and Peter Wright.

Also in the mix is three-time winner Michael van Gerwen, who knocked Littler out in the very first round of last year’s tournament.

While Littler and Humphries are naturally in the spotlight, two other names are turning heads among fans and pundits: Gerwyn Price and Josh Rock.

Price is having an impressive season, highlighted by a Premier League semi-final appearance and a convincing win over Anderson in the Baltic Sea Darts Open final.

Rock, meanwhile, reached the semi-finals of the 2025 UK Open before impressing on the world stage alongside Daryl Gurney as part of Northern Ireland’s duo in the World Cup of Darts. With his deadly consistency on 180s, he’s a serious threat to watch in Blackpool.

PDC World Matchplay Format

The top 16 players in the PDC Order of Merit are matched up against the top 16 ProTour qualifiers not already in the top 16.

First round: Best of 19 legs
Second round: Best of 21 legs
Quarter-finals: Best of 31 legs
Semi-finals: Best of 33 legs
Final: Best of 35 legs
