Jupiler Pro League Matchday 19 – Betting Tips

Fans of the Belgian Pro League may well have last weekend down as one of the most pivotal in the season, as results at both ends of the table began to make the picture of the season look a lot clearer.

2nd-placed Club Brugge continued their pursuit of leaders Genk by beating them 2-0, with goals in the last 15 minutes from Brandon Mechele and Andreas Skov Olsen securing the result and closing the gap between the teams to just one point.

While at the bottom of the table, Kortrijk’s fourth defeat in five leaves them in a difficult position in their desperation to escape the relegation zone. Genk to beat Anderlecht @ 2.20

League leaders Genk have lost two of their last five games, including a 2-0 defeat against 2nd-place Club Brugge, who are now just a single point behind. Now, they face 3rd-placed Anderlecht, and another defeat could see them knocked off top spot, continuing their mini slump in form.

Anderlecht are five points further back from Genk, but a win against their title rivals will certainly make this a three-horse race to the finish line. However, with Genk unbeaten at home having dropped just two points all season, we think they’ll be able to stay top of the league for another week, at least. Genk win.

Standard Liege to draw with Gent @ 3.35

There are just three points separating these two going into matchday 19, with Gent in 5th and Liege in 9th. Of course, a win for Liege and they’d put themselves right in and amongst the Championship Round places with just 10 to play in the regular season, while a defeat (and other results going against them) might just create a distance that’s too far for them to overcome.

Gent haven’t won in their last five away games, but that has only included one defeat, so we expect them to be tough for Liege to break through. A point a piece seems fair.

Dender to beat Royal Antwerp @ 3.75

Back-to-back wins for Dender has catapulted them into surprise contention to qualify for the Championship Round. They lie in 8th, just three points behind Union Saint-Gilloise in 6th, and four behind matchday 19 opponents Antwerp.

Despite their lofty position of 4th, Antwerp’s form has stumbled in recent weeks, and The Reds find themselves without a win in four. This has allowed a clear divide to emerge between the top three and the rest of the Championship Round hopefuls going into the last third of the regular season.

Against the odds, we think Dender will make it three wins on the spin and further compress the space between teams in the middle of the table.

Club Brugge to beat Union Saint-Gilloise @ 2.60

With last week’s vital win over Genk putting them within a point of the league leaders, Club Brugge will be determined to consolidate that victory by grabbing another one and making it five wins in a row.

Union Saint-Gilloise stand in their way, who themselves have ambitions of ending the season strongly by qualifying for the Championship Round. They’re currently in 6th, on a six-game unbeaten run, and another win (along with other favourable results) could see them end the weekend as high as 4th. But, we don’t think that will happen, as Club Brugge continue their title charge by winning again.
