Beerschot vs Club Brugge: Jupiler Pro League Preview

Beerschot are looking to spring another surprise in the 2024-25 Jupiler Pro League season when they take on reigning champions Club Brugge.

Despite sitting bottom of the table going into Matchday 14, the upcoming hosts managed to beat Belgian giants Anderlecht 2-1 on home soil last month and most recently held sixth-place Gent to a 0-0 draw.

Can they produce more heroics on Sunday evening? You would be a fool to completely rule it out!

Beerschot vs Club Brugge Preview

While Club Brugge’s title defence has perhaps not gone totally to plan thus far, the side currently occupying second place will enter this fixture in perhaps their most confident mood of the season.

Wednesday’s crucial 1-0 victory over Aston Villa in the Champions League was welcome proof that Nicky Hayen’s side are still a force to be reckoned with.

Hans Vanaken’s second-half penalty secured the win, meaning Club Brugge have won their last four in all competitions – a run which includes a 2-1 success against Anderlecht.

And they will need to keep winning if they are to catch table-toppers Genk, who go into Matchday 14 seven points clear at the summit.

But Beerschot in their current state certainly fits the bill of a potential ‘banana skin’.

Managed by ex-Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt, they have lost only once in five previous outings across all competitions.

However, while the recent form books are perhaps not too dissimilar, the gap in quality on paper is quite telling.

Club Brugge boast arguably the best squad in the Pro League, headed by veteran Vanaken, Andreas Skov Olsen and summer signing Gustaf Nilsson.

If Beerschot can somehow achieve victory and add to their measly points total of six, it would represent one of the biggest shocks in recent Belgian top-flight history.

Never say never, though…

Beerschot vs Club Brugge Odds

With all the above taken into account, it is no surprise to see that Beerschot are huge underdogs on home soil at odds of 9.50. Club Brugge are 1.30 for the victory, while the draw is at 6.50.

Beerschot vs Club Brugge Betting Tips

Under 2.5 goals in the match @ 2.75

While we expect Club Brugge to win the match, we cannot see them doing so by scoring goals aplenty. Hayen’s side have not scored more than twice in their previous six Pro League matches.

Club Brugge to win by 2 goals @ 4.15

Factoring in our previous shout, this could be a good – albeit bolder – shout with increased betting odds.

Club Brugge to win 2-0 @ 7.75

Sticking with the theme, a 2-0 scoreline in favour of the visitors just keeps grabbing our attention!
