Genk to score over 1.5 goals vs Anderlecht @ 2.25
Pro League leaders Genk began their play-off campaign in impressive style with a 4-0 win over sixth-placed Gent. The division’s top scorer Tolu Arokodare was on target once again and he is going to be key to Genk’s hopes of going on to lift the trophy. Anderlecht suffered a 2-0 loss to Club Brugge in their play-off opener and defensively, they look a bit of a shambles. So we are predicting Genk’s attack – spearheaded by the brilliant Arokodare – to strike at least two times when the sides collide this weekend.
Club Brugge to score 2.5 goals vs Antwerp @ 3.15
If anyone is going to stop Genk from winning the title, it is Club Brugge. The defending champions appear to be hitting their stride after a slightly inconsistent regular season and are now without the distraction of Champions League football. Greek winger Christos Tzolis was on target again in the win over Anderlecht, while veteran playmaker Hans Vanaken continues to shine bright. We expect Club Brugge to secure a commanding away win here, scoring at least three goals against an Antwerp side still reeling from a 5-1 loss at Union Saint-Gilloise.
Westerlo to beat Leuven @ 2.10
Both of these sides began their quests for Europa Conference League qualification in disappointing fashion. Westerlo were beaten 1-0 by Dender away from home, while Leuven were held to a 0-0 draw by Charleroi. So each of these teams are in need of a Matchday 2 victory and it should be a very close game. However, we are siding with Westerlo on this occasion, as they can really turn on the style at home. On Matchday 29 of the regular season, a 2-0 victory over Anderlecht was achieved in front of their own fans.
Union Saint-Gilloise to beat Gent @ 1.80
Aside from maybe Genk, no team left Matchday 1 with bigger smiles across the faces of the players than USG. A 5-1 win over Antwerp should prove to be a huge confidence boost for the remainder of the Championship Round, with star striker Franjo Ivanovic netting two more goals. Given Gent lost 4-0 to Genk last weekend, this match looks like a formality before kick-off. Of course, nothing can ever be ruled out when it comes to the Pro League, but we like the look of USG’s chances!
