Things continue to be tense throughout the Jupiler Pro League as we enter Matchday 17.
Last week saw Genk miss out on the chance to maintain their six-point lead at the top as they drew with St. Truidense 2-2, which allowed Club Brugge to close the gap to just four points following their 4-1 win over Dender.
While further down the table, Kortrijk were impressive in their 3-1 defeat of Championship Round-chasing Mechelen, moving them within a point of escaping the Relegation Round places.

Genk to beat Kortrijk @ 1.33
The league leaders are a short price to win at home to Kortrijk, despite the visitors beating 5th-placed Mechelen in their last league outing.
Couple this with the fact that Genk dropped points last week and it doesn’t look as sure as the price suggests, but we believe in our odds nerds to come to the correct outcome. Home win.
Club Brugge to beat Mechelen @ 1.76
Though it’s 2nd vs 5th, a Club Brugge win would open up a sizable gap of 10 points between the two teams. Brugge are unbeaten in their last eight Pro League games, consolidating their place as the closest challengers to Genk’s lead at the summit.
Just two wins in their last five have seen Mechelen’s Championship Round place come under serious threat, so much so that certain results this weekend could leave them out of the top six completely, so pressure will be on to stop their recent disappointing run.
Union Saint-Gilloise to beat Cercle Brugge @ 1.90
One of the teams that could potentially leapfrog Mechelen in the top six is Union Saint-Gilloise, should they beat 15th-placed Cercle Brugge, and other results fall in their favour. Coincidentally enough, USG’s last Pro League defeat was against Cercle at the end of October, but Brugge’s second-most famous club have only managed a single win since.
This is why they’re languishing within the Relegation Round places, desperate for a win that could see them climb out, even temporarily. However, we don’t think it will come this weekend.
Anderlecht to beat Beerschot @ 1.27
Anderlecht are currently 3rd, though they are four points behind Club Brugge in 2nd and a further four behind Genk atop of the pile. So, it seems like a good time for them to play bottom of the table Beerschot, who are eight points adrift of escaping the Relegation Round.
Since their painful defeat to Club Brugge in October, they have three wins in a row scoring four, then five, and then six in the following matches. We have faith in Anderlecht to do their job this weekend.
