The 2025/2026 Jupiler Pro League season kicks off this weekend, and there are already some exciting matchups on the schedule.
The opening matchday of any league is always tricky to predict. Several factors come into play, making the outcome of the games particularly uncertain: The summer transfer window is still open, players are still feeling the physical effects of pre-season, and the psychological pressure of the season opener is high.
All eyes will be on the league’s big clubs, especially after Club Brugge’s Super Cup victory over Union Saint-Gilloise (2-1) last Sunday.

Union Saint-Gilloise to beat Royal Antwerp @ 2.15
The reigning Belgian champions get things underway. After losing the Super Cup (2-1) to Club Brugge, Union showed they’re not quite firing on all cylinders yet, but are expected to return to form quickly and reinforce their status. Meanwhile, Royal Antwerp—playing at home and coming off a worrying run of form—will be looking to bounce back. USG present a major challenge for Antwerp, having beaten them five times in their last six league meetings.
Draw between La Louvière and Standard Liège @ 3.40
Back in the top flight, La Louvière face Standard Liège in what promises to be an emotional encounter. Standard, coming off a lacklustre season, absolutely need a strong start to win back the trust of their fans. On paper, the Liège side has the edge, but overconfidence could be dangerous against a newly-promoted team that will be playing with heart and no pressure. This one could be closer than expected.
Club Brugge to beat Racing Genk @ 1.75
One of the most exciting fixtures of the opening weekend. Club Brugge head into this match fresh from their Super Cup win, brimming with confidence—even if their squad isn’t quite complete yet, with new signings still expected. Genk, on the other hand, remain unpredictable—capable of brilliance or breakdowns—and they seem a bit undercooked at this stage. Brugge are the clear favourites to win here.
Anderlecht to beat Westerlo @ 1.70
Anderlecht begin their season with big ambitions following a promising transfer window and face a real test as they host Westerlo. Known for being tough to break down, Westerlo can trouble even the top teams. Anderlecht looked very sharp in pre-season, especially in attack, but they’ll need to stay solid at the back. A win looks within reach if they stay focused.
