Tour de France 2025 Favourites
In recent years, two names have dominated the global cycling scene, building one of the sport’s most iconic rivalries: Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard.
The Slovenian star, racing for UAE Team Emirates, claimed his third Tour title in 2024, adding to his victories in 2020 and 2021. He now has a chance to join an elite club of riders who have worn the yellow jersey four times.
Vingegaard, the Danish rider who shined in 2022 and 2023 with Team Jumbo-Visma, is aiming to reclaim his crown.
This year’s battle between the two should be even more intense, as both riders arrive in peak form after skipping the Giro d’Italia, a race Pogacar went on to win in 2024.
Behind these two giants, several challengers will be hoping to cause an upset. Chief among them is Remco Evenepoel, the Belgian prodigy and Olympic champion, who could pounce on any mistakes made by the favourites. A Vuelta a España winner, Evenepoel dreams of making history by claiming his first yellow jersey in Paris.
Other riders to watch include the ever-consistent João Almeida, the experienced Primoz Roglic (now with Team Red Bull–Bora–Hansgrohe), and British rider Simon Yates, who’s coming off a strong showing at the Giro.
The 2025 Tour de France Route
This year’s Tour will remain entirely within French borders, a first since 2020. The race will cross 11 regions and 34 departments, showcasing the beauty and variety of the French landscape.
Starting in Lille and finishing in Paris, the Tour will feature 21 stages in total: 7 flat stages, 6 hilly stages and 6 mountain stages.
The race will run over 23 days, with 2 rest days in between. A total of 184 riders will line up at the start, ready to take on one of the toughest challenges in sport.
