Bayern Munich vs Inter Milan: Champions League Preview

A replay of the 2010 Champions League final graces us with its presence in this year’s quarter-finals.

Bayern and Inter are two of the best teams on the planet right now and sit atop their respective domestic divisions before kick-off.

The first leg at the Allianz Arena this evening is crucial, especially for the hosts, as they do not want to be arriving at the San Siro behind in the tie.

Below is betFIRST’s full match preview for the tantalising Champions League clash in Bavaria, featuring the latest football odds for your betting needs.

Bayern Munich vs Inter Milan Preview

Both teams qualified for the quarter-finals without virtually any drama.

For Bayern there was none whatsoever, as they thrashed domestic rivals Bayer Leverkusen 5-0 on aggregate, with star striker Harry Kane netting three of the goals.

Inter defeated Feyenoord 4-1 on aggregate, but only managed a 2-1 home victory on home soil, which was a slight surprise.

Nevertheless, the pair reached the final eight with minimum fuss, although the first-leg hosts are not in the best shape physically.

While Vincent Kompany’s side have claimed back-to-back Bundesliga wins over St Pauli and Augsburg since domestic football’s return, injuries are beginning to take their toll.

Bayern will be without key attacker Jamal Musiala for both legs of this tie due to a muscle injury, while Dayot Upamecano and Kingsley Coman are also out.

The fitness situation should give Inter a welcome boost after a slightly disappointing run of results.

A 2-1 victory over Udinese was followed by a 1-1 draw with AC Milan in the Coppa Italia and on the weekend, Inter could only muster a 2-2 draw at Parma after taking a 2-0 lead.

Lautaro Martinez did make his return from injury in that Serie A fixture, although to say the Argentine looked a little rusty would be an understatement.

In contrast, Kane was on target again in the 3-1 win at Augsburg last Friday and the England captain has 10 goals in 11 Champions League appearances this season.

Even Inter’s famous pragmatic skills, which have waned somewhat in recent months, may be powerless in trying to stop one of the world’s best strikers on home soil.

Bayern Munich vs Inter Milan Odds

*All odds are subject to change

Bayern are the big favourites here at odds of 1.95 for victory. A crucial away win for Inter is priced at 4.10, while the draw is 3.75.

Bayern Munich vs Inter Milan Betting Tips

Michael Olise to score anytime @ 3.90

While we may have bigged up Kane in the preview, Olise’s odds in the goalscorer market really caught the eye. Now one of Bayern’s most important players, the Frenchman has five goals in the Champions League this season and with Musiala missing, he is likely to see even more of the ball.

Inter Milan to be shown more cards in the match @ 2.15

Bayern are likely to be the team on the front foot for the most part, with Inter sitting back and looking to catch the hosts on the counter. This may lend itself to potential yellow cards for the visiting side, as they try to stop the likes of Kane, Olise and Leroy Sane.

First half result – Draw @ 2.15

Taking the above into account, we would be anything but shocked to see the scores level at half-time, as each side tries to work the other out.
